Many PRA members have long recognized the value of the core principles of psychiatric rehabilitation in assisting children with emotional and behavioral challenges to live successful, meaningful lives in their community. Appropriate psychiatric rehabilitation interventions introduced during childhood can help to prevent disability in adulthood. As states across the nation and around the world become increasingly aware of how the principles of psychiatric rehabilitation benefit these children, PRA is setting the standard for effective practices in the field. In 2009, PRA began offering a Certificate in PSR for Children, an intense learning opportunity for practitioner. Our next steps include the launch of the first evidence-based certification examination for the use of psychiatric rehabilitation in this unique population.

As we ready for the launch of the Child and Family Resiliency Practitioner (CFRP) certification examination, which is expected in early 2016, we are excited to offer practitioners an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills specific to children’s psychiatric rehabilitation. There will more than 10 educational sessions specific to the provision of services for children, families, and Transition Age Youth at this year’s Recovery Workforce Summit!

Join us in Philadelphia, PA to begin preparing for the CFRP certification examination! There will be opportunities throughout the conference for you to develop or enhance your knowledge about  children’s mental health, the application of the principles of psychiatric rehabilitation for children and families and new skills that you can take-away from the conference and implement in your daily work helping children and families as they build resiliency and work towards recovery.
