The goal of every professional is to become as competent as possible while at the same time working in the field. Application, application, application!  The goal of the Academy of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Recovery is to support the gains of persons utilizing services for whom the Academy team will never meet. Advancing your education is key to this outcome. The education and training opportunities are presented by competent facilitators in the field (referred to as Academy faculty). Each faculty is vested in supporting and growing the recovery workforce. Each faculty is an expert in his/her field of interest and has spent hours presenting information in a variety of formats to meet your educational needs. There are webinars, online and OnDemand courses, live and customized trainings, and of course the Summit annual conference. No where will you find an abundance of trainings nested to support the teams of professionals that assist the goals of individuals across the lifespan in the field of psychiatric rehabilitation.

The Academy prides itself on meeting the needs of children’s services, transition age youth (emerging adults), adults, and older adults. There is nothing wrong with tooting our own horn. How do you measure up against your peers and colleagues in the field? Where ever there is a gap, look at the library of Academy trainings. Plan to register for the trainings that are announced each month. Plan to measure yourself against the behavioral health workforce framework. Do you have your CPRP or are you sustaining your CPRP? Either of the aforementioned status is important to the faculty of the Academy.  How do you measure up? This is a Call to Action. Your participation in the Academy demonstrates collegiality, solidarity, adaptation, and adoption. To find out more about how you can gain strength in psychiatric rehabilitation is to join the increasing numbers of individuals who have prospered from Academy programming; register today.

To find out how much your agency can benefit from Academy programming frequent the PRA  Academy website for a free  perusal of the various programming. Challenge your team to identify one training per quarter. Challenge yourself to register for a topic of interest, necessity, or client benefit. Encourage professional peers outside of psychiatric rehabilitation to review the site as well as many of the opportunities will support the growth of psychiatric nurses, residential staff, psychologists, occupational therapists, and certified peer specialists, to name a few. How do you measure up? Let’s go places. Let’s grow in places that previously had not been explored in PRA education and training. Let’s show our strength! Let’s show our ambition to meet the needs of persons utilizing services though the escalation of competence! Let’s not be afraid to toot our own horn. The time has come and the time is now! The Academy‘s mission is to grow and train the recovery workforce. How do you measure up?
